KEVIN BALL
He’s down but not out.
Henley Men’s Shed member Wayne Harrison [pictured] ponders the repairs needed to restore Robert the Robot.
Robert was torn from the fence at Westside Playcentre by vandals and pieces of him scattered around Masterton.
Robert, a favourite with the children, used to accommodate a free library at his site on the fence outside the kindergarten by the Ngaumatawa Rd roundabout.
Not content with tearing Robert down, the vandals also tore him limb from limb.
Most of Robert’s parts have been recovered but the rest must be rebuilt before he is returned to his place on the wall.
Robert was built by Barry Clement and his face painted by artist Jim Brady.
Typical Masterton, feral bastards. What has happened to the town I once loved and lived in.
