Police are appealing for witnesses to Tuesday’s Chapel St hit and run.
A woman was admitted to the hospital with moderate injuries on Tuesday night after being hit by a car shortly before 9pm.
Wellington Free Ambulance said a second person with moderate injuries was also taken to the hospital.
Masterton police issued a statement on Wednesday requesting the public’s help piecing together what had happened.
They said the pedestrian might have run in front of the vehicle, which stopped briefly before leaving the scene.
“A bystander tried to get the vehicle to stop, and we would like to speak with the driver,” they said.
Police said the car, a silver saloon, could have minor damage to the bonnet.
They said they would like to speak to the driver and any witnesses, including anyone who had CCTV footage of the area, in particular near 110-130 Chapel St.
