More than $4700 was raised thanks to the support of the community at the Rotary of Carterton Annual Monster Book Fair last weekend.
Rotarian Deirdre O’Flynn said, “People were very generous and there were lots of donations.”
The new ‘Kids’ corner’ was a great success and they are already thinking of new ideas to improve the corner for next year.
O’Flynn said a young girl around the age of four stood up at one point and read aloud a book to her mother, oblivious to everyone else around.
“Things like that make it special,” O’Flynn said.
It’s estimated that more than 6000 books were sold over the two days.
