A man is on the run from the police after threatening another man with a knife and then stealing his car.
Police were called to a property on Albert St in Masterton at 11.15am on Tuesday after reports of the robbery.
A police spokesperson said the two men involved are known to each other, and it is believed that the offender was at the Albert St property when the victim visited the address.
The offender is believed to have been upset by the victim’s arrival at the property, and produced a knife that he threatened the man with while demanding his car keys.
Once he was given the keys, the offender allegedly then took off in the victim’s car.
Police have been unable to locate the offender and the stolen silver Toyota Blade vehicle he was driving.
A spokesperson said this “was not a random act” and that while police do not have immediate concerns for the public’s safety, the offender has been described as “unpredictable”.
Several police vehicles were reportedly seen at the property on Tuesday morning, including a dog squad car.
Police are continuing their search for the offender and the stolen vehicle.
