A logging truck driver’s day come to a sudden halt on Tuesday afternoon when part of the load he was hauling fell off at Masterton-Stronvar Rd.
The incident happened on a section of straight road about 500m past Wainuioru School, east of Masterton, at about 2.30pm, after the truck’s trailer tipped over, blocking one lane.
Police at the scene said it appeared the truck driver had veered to the left to allow oncoming traffic to pass because the road was narrow.
The trailer then slid sideways into the ditch and tipped over, losing all of its logs off the side of the road.
No other vehicles were involved and no one was injured.
Another truck was sent to pick up the logs and traffic control was requested until everything was cleared.
The incident comes only days after a logging truck lost its load when its trailer overturned in Clareville, blocking both lanes of State Highway 2 during the morning rush on Thursday morning last week.
