Peter Little, of Carterton, received his Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit [MNZM] at an investiture ceremony on Wednesday.
The award for services to Maori land development and administration, was announced in the New Year Honours list.
Little said, at the time, he was most proud of land diversification programmes he brought about, including the growth of Tauranga’s kiwifruit industry.
After living in Wairarapa as a youth for a six-month stretch on a Longbush sheep and beef farm, Little retired to Carterton in 2016.
