A 22-year-old man was flown to Wellington Hospital early Friday morning after he was stabbed in the torso at a Lansdowne property.
A 23-year-old woman was arrested and taken into police custody after the incident.
She appeared in Masterton District Court on Friday morning.
Wairarapa Police response manager Senior Sergeant Jennifer Hansen said police responded to reports of a person being stabbed at about 12.05am.
The man and woman were known to each other, Hansen said.
The man was taken to Wairarapa Hospital and later flown to Wellington Hospital by Life Flight Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
Hansen said the wounded man was in a stable condition on Friday morning and was due to be transferred back to Wairarapa Hospital.
During her court appearance, the woman was remanded on bail to a central Masterton address.
She was granted interim name suppression and was ordered not to contact or associate with the victim at all, including by phone or social media.
The court also ordered her not to speak to witnesses to the stabbing or consume alcohol.
The woman is set to appear again in Masterton District Court later this month.
