Man assaults boy on train
A boy was indecently assaulted by an unknown man on a train heading to Wairarapa on Monday afternoon.
Police are seeking witnesses to the incident which happened at about 4.45pm on the Wairarapa Line from Hutt Valley to Wairarapa.
Police have spoken to several people but are seeking further witnesses to speak with them.
Police said the incident happened on the train between Lower Hutt and Woodside.
Several members of the public intervened and helped the boy.
The boy was not hurt, but was shaken by the incident.
“Police would like to speak to those people who helped the boy as we believe they have valuable information that will assist us in our investigation.
“We would also like to speak to any other members of the public who were on the train and witnessed this incident.”
Greater Wellington Regional Council confirmed they were working with police but were unable to give any further details.
