Kushla Anderson has set up a Givealittle page for her partner Keith Pullman and his three children after they lost their Judds Rd, Masterton home and all their belongings in a housefire on Saturday night.
Anderson was also in the Solway house with her child at the time of the fire.
“I set that up just because I had so many people asking how to help,” she said.
“A lot of people are trying to donate goods and there’s no house to put the goods in.”
She said the Wairarapa community had been wonderful in their contributions to the family.
“The children have had so many clothes and toys donated, and the help has been truly appreciated,” she wrote on the Givealittle page.
However, the family said they felt a bit funny about taking donations because the insurance company had been such a big help.
Anderson said the Givealittle page proceeds would go towards cremating their dog Jess and their cat Coral who died in the fire.
“The two animals that died, we thought it would be nice to get them cremated for the kids,” she said.
The family are staying at Copthorne Hotel awaiting advice from their insurance provider.
“We have to wait to see whether they say if they’ll rebuild – we’re kind of stuck in limbo at the moment with stuff like that,” Anderson said.
“So many people are trying to donate things, kitchen items and curtains and its awesome that they want to donate and we don’t want to stop that but we just can’t take anything at the moment.”
