With MPs adhering to the same lockdown procedures as everyone else, video conferencing and working from home have become the norm. With this new time at home, politicians have been finding time to unwind and pursue outside interests.
Times-Age reporter ARTHUR HAWKES checked in with Wairarapa-based MPs.

“In lockdown I’ve not been allowed into the winery due to protecting workers’ bubbles,” Scott said.
“The team are busy with bringing in nets and making the wine, so I’ve been doing the packing of bottles into boxes for daily pick up by Toll, who do a great job each day transporting the product across the country.”
Ron Mark
“During the covid-19 lockdown I’m still very busy working long hours [at the dining room table] as Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, supporting all government agencies on a range of tasks in the fight against covid-19, whilst simultaneously delivering aid and assistance to Pacific Island nations devastated by Cyclone Harold,” Mark said.
“We are looking after our elderly veterans. My Wairarapa team continues to support constituents nationwide and Chris and I try to get out for a walk each day within our family bubble, and to keep on top of the never-ending jobs that need to be done on our property.”
Kieran McAnulty
“Between attending the Epidemic Response Committee, communicating key covid-19 response messages, responding to queries from the public and continuing to assist people that need it, my days remain pretty full,” McAnulty said.
“One thing that I have been able to do as a result of being at home in Masterton is spend time in the kitchen. I’m mad for cooking and baking, but I don’t often get the time, so I have enjoyed being able to do so.”
