Workers were spotted on Thursday constructing Queen Elizabeth Park’s new flying fox.
The coming installation is part of a series of park upgrades, and will be joined by a newly repaired merry-go-round.
Fresh protective padding and wood chips had also been placed around the fox to prevent injury.
A previous flying fox in Queen Elizabeth Park was burned to the ground by vandals in 2011 – the new design is entirely metal.
The poles and protective surfacing were completed on Wednesday, with the platform going in on Thursday.
The council said the cable was scheduled to be installed on July 6, once the concrete had been given time to set and cure sufficiently.
