Selling 100 bottles of their own juicy concoction was a tough task, but three Opaki School pupils smashed it out of the park.

Last week, during Opaki School’s pet day, Charlie Day, Hunter Tamihana, and Jory Clark put their grape juice up for sale for the first time.

They are now looking to make more and approach cafes and other places to see if they are interested in selling some of their product and getting feedback from them.

The idea for homemade grape juice came about during their science, technology, engineering, and mathematics class one day.

Their teacher set them the task to invent something new.

After brainstorming, they came up with an idea for their own grape juice.

Researching what drinks were out there and what ingredients usually went in them, they came up with the product name ‘Drips’.

They also designed their own t-shirts with their motto “dripping with swag”.

Squishing so many grapes proved too timely and the boys switched to McCoy’s grape juice as the base for their drink.

They added special ingredients such as caffeine, tea extract, and sugar to give their product a point of difference.

They also visited Hansells in Masterton where they took a tour to learn more about drink ingredients and production.

Hansells also helped with getting labels for their drink creation.

Teacher Tiriana Potangaora said it was great to see the amount of work the boys had put into their product and how much enjoyment they were getting from the experience.
