South Wairarapa District Council will be meeting in person from April 5, the first time it has done so since August last year.
The changes come after the Government’s announcement on the Red Traffic Light setting.
Nearby Carterton District Council will continue to meet online while omicron is in the community and Masterton District Council meetings will be physically closed to the public but people can join the livestream.
A South Wairarapa District Council spokesperson said its “face to face” council meetings would continue to be recorded for its Youtube channel “where technology permits”.
The council has also removed requirements for vaccine passes at all of its venues, taking effect from April 5.
“Mask wearing and social distancing will continue to be required indoors,” the council said.
“Scanning will no longer be mandatory but will remain for those who want to record their visits.

“South Wairarapa libraries will revert to normal access.
“The Wairarapa Library Service’s new HomeLink and Click and Collect services continue to be available for those who wish to have books selected and either readied for pick up, or delivered to their home.”
Vaccine pass requirements have also been scrapped at Carterton and Masterton council venues, taking effect from April 5.
Masks will still need to be worn.
A Carterton District Council spokesperson said while omicron was still in the community, its council and committee meetings would remain online only.
“People can still speak at the public forum of each meeting, either via video call, phone call or submitting a written statement.”
Masterton District Council meetings would continue to be closed to the public physically while omicron was present in the community, but livestream access would be available on its Facebook page.– NZLDR
