Six hundred music lovers ventured to the foothills at Tora last weekend for the much anticipated two-night music festival, Tora Bombora.

Organiser Louis Murphy-Harris said the festival was a success and the changes made after last year’s inaugural festival had gone down well.

They moved the site to right under the Tora foothills, which was slightly elevated from last year’s site, and provided shelter.

He said the addition of a truck stage, and the natural bowl shape of the new site with a view of the beach created the perfect setting for the music event.

This year with more people, he said they managed to have less waste, “which was great”.

During the event multiple people commented to Murphy-Harris, “next year, bigger and better”.

He said he was not sure about “bigger”, but he was always looking to make it better – safer and more enjoyable for festival-goers.

After the success of last year’s event, he said there was high amounts of support.

“It created a real community actually”.

Both years tickets to the festival sold out within a fortnight.

Murphy-Harris said for the last year he has worked as a freelance event manager on multiple different events and came to planning Tora Bombora 2020 with much more confidence in its success.

“You just need the right recipe.”

Murphy-Harris said because of the wind picking up at last year’s festival, he was nervously watching the forecast leading up to Friday.

But on Friday night, “there was the best sunset”, he said, saying that he went to bed thinking “that was too easy”.

There was mist and fog on Saturday that covered the hills, and light drizzle, but he said it did not deter any of the festival-goers from having a good time.

“It enhanced the event,” Murphy-Harris said.

  1. Next year could this please be advertised properly, as many locals would love to attend. Price? Who played? Age restriction?
