Late last week, Greytown residents and business owners gathered to present South Wairarapa Mayor Martin Connelly with a petition opposing Woolworth’s proposal to put in a third accessway to the town’s Fresh Choice supermarket. Community group Greytown Safety on Main Street said the petition has garnered a total of 1268 signatures, over half Greytown’s population according to the 2018 census. The petition was presented under the copper beech tree at the centre of Woolworth’s divisive proposal by two Main St business owners, Latasha Boyce and Lorraine Hall. Submissions on the proposal to South Wairarapa District Council close today at 4pm.
