Council boss calls it quits

South Wairarapa District Council’s chief executive Harry Wilson [pictured] has his last day in the job today.

Late yesterday afternoon, South Wairarapa Mayor Martin Connelly announced Wilson’s resignation after nearly four years in the role.

“Mr Wilson is to cease employment with the council as at Friday May 5, for personal reasons and to pursue other interests,” Connelly said in a statement.

He thanked Wilson for
his service to the council since
he started in the role on July 1, 2019.

Connelly said he wanted to express his gratitude to Wilson for the work that he had undertaken during his employment and, on behalf of all the councillors, wished him all the best for the future.

Wilson’s resignation means that two out of three Wairarapa district councils are now on the hunt for a new chief executive, with David Hopman resigning from the position at Masterton District Council last month.
