Today is the Qualifying Day for FMG Young Farmer of the Year, while the FMG Young Farmer of the Year, FMG Junior Young Farmer of the Year, and AgriKidsNZ regional finals are on Saturday. In the evening, eight contestants will go
head-to-head in a buzzer-round quiz to find the winner who will represent the East Coast Region at the Grand Final in July.

Saturday’s events run from 7am to 1:30pm at Solway Showgrounds.

Dalefield country fair

Take a smile along with family and friends on Saturday, and head down to Dalefield School’s country fair, which is raising funds for a new playground. There will be a range of activities, including teacher dunking and tractor rides, along with fire trucks and food trucks, with more than 30 stall holders offering face painting, raffles, a classic sausage sizzle, and much more.

Tomorrow from 10am to 1pm at Dalefield School, 531 Dalefield Rd, Carterton.

Choral masterpiece

Join the Tudor Consort vocal chamber ensemble for a commemoration of Holy Week. This year’s programme is based on Sir James MacMillan’s emotionally moving ‘Cantos Sagrados’, which are three poems based on political repression, violence, and redemption in Latin America. These ideas were explored in Hubert Parry’s ‘Lord, Let Me Know Mine End’, written at the end of Parry’s life against the brutal backdrop of the First World War. This piece is widely recognised as a ‘choral masterpiece’, grappling with the brief nature of life and searching for meaning and hope in conflict.

Tomorrow from 4:00pm to 5:30pm at Featherston Anzac Hall, 62 Bell St, Featherston.
