Iconic Wairarapa event Toast Martinborough is all set for the 2024 version tomorrow. Festival goers will be lining up to get their wristbands from 9am at either The Martinborough Square or the Martinborough rugby grounds on Regent St before the buses load up and take them around the eight planned sites from 10am.
A total of 12 local wineries are participating this year and food from eateries across Wairarapa will be serving up kai to help soak up a bit of that wine.
Performers from the across the region and beyond will be treating participants to a wide variety of music throughout the day.
There’s an official Toast Martinborough app available to download for free that tells attendees what food and drinks are available at each destination, when and where musicians will be performing, and will also update on the capacity of each site throughout the day. MetService predicts occasional showers with easterly winds but that is unlikely to dampen anybody’s day.

Toys Ahoy!
Masterton Toy library is running a market day today to help raise funds and awareness for the library and the services it provides.
Many local businesses are participating in the event, so there will be a variety of stalls, including food and coffee vendors.
The family-friendly day will also include face painting and pony rides, as well as Christmas goodies for anyone who likes to be extra prepared.

Where there’s smoke … there’s a burnout competition
Masterton Motorplex International Dragstrip is hosting its SMOKEFEST Burnout Competition tomorrow from 12pm. Instead of tearing up the streets, burnout enthusiasts will be burning it up at the motorplex drag strip in the hopes of winning one of the offered cash prizes. Kids 14 and under get free entry to the event, where many various classes will participate. Sales are available at the gate only, with eftpos available.

Christmas spirit
Carterton-based playwright Nathan Roseman’s original Christmas story is kicking off next week at the Carterton Events Centre, starting on Wednesday.
Presented by Carterton’s very own Limelight Theatre Company, Candy Cane – A Christmas Story is set to deliver a unique take on some classic Christmas story tropes. Show times run from 7.30pm on November 22, 23, 24, and 25, with an earlier time of 2pm available on Sunday, November 26.
