Golden day for Wine Harvest Festival punters

The annual Wairarapa Wines Harvest Festival to celebrate the start of the 2024 grape harvest season went off without a hitch at ‘The Cliffs’ on the banks of the Ruamahunga River on Saturday.

The collaboration between the region’s vineyards and restaurants enjoyed a “perfect Wairarapa day”, Wairarapa Wines Harvest Festival chair Nicky Geary said, with the hundreds of attendees enjoying great wine, food, and music, and an excellent atmosphere.

Event manager Carla Steed was also pleased with the day.

“Over 2000 people from the lower North Island and overseas had a fantastic day; the sun was shining, and the live music was on point,” she said.

The inaugural Wine Geek 101, a new “curated wine tasting experience” that gave ticketholders the opportunity to try eight of the more experimental varieties on offer while asking questions of the people who made them, was also a sold-out success.
