Those wishing to catch a short documentary featuring local wet-plate photographer Brian Scadden should run, not walk, to The Screening Room cinema, where Jos – the forgotten photographer who saved a town has its last screening tomorrow [2pm]. The 46-minute film is about life and work of photographer Jos Divis, an immigrant who was something of a photographic pioneer in his adopted country and town [Waiuta] early last century. Scadden [pictured on left, with documentary makers Dave Kwant and Jonny Eagle], who replicated several shots on glass from Divis’ negatives for the film as well as acting as an on-screen expert, says “Everyone should come see it, it’s a real eye-opener.” PHOTO/JANE SCADDEN
