In a surprise to absolutely no one following the online teasers, Crackerjack, the bargain-hunting retailer is opening in Masterton.
The retailer that sells everything from confectionery to furniture and cosmetics at basement prices has confirmed the rumours [that it started] of a Masterton store were true – although it is yet to indicate a timeframe for opening beyond “later this year”.
Crackerjack said the Masterton outlet on the corner of Queen and Park streets would be its 15th store nationwide, since the brand was founded in 2009.
It said that, as a 100 per cent New Zealand family-owned and operated business, Masterton locals could expect “a competitive offer of international and local brands sourced at bargain prices”.
“If it’s not a bargain, we won’t stock it.”
In a series of clues posted to its social media since April 13, Crackerjack teased Masterton as the location for its next store – “It starts with an ‘M’, “Ladyhawke was born here”, and “It’s famous for its festival of aviation.”
Those who answered correctly went in a draw to win a $100 store voucher, with entries closing at 11.59pm on April 24.
Crackerjack is the second bargain store to make Masterton its home this year, with Reduced to Clear, who took over Smiths City’s lease, due to open its doors on May 1.
