Masterton Trust Lands Trust [MTLT] has announced its latest funding round recipients.
A total of $259,122 was dispersed between various initiatives in the education, civic, arts, and community sectors.
The majority of this funding round – a grand total of $151,550 – went toward community impact grants, while $20,000 went toward Iwi and Pasifika grants.
The second highest funding stream was targeted education, which received $68,570.
Community groups Masterton Foodbank, Waiwaste Food Rescue, and Sustainable Wairarapa Inc. received a combined $35,000 to contribute towards salaries.
Other funding from MTLT included a mix of “scholarships for individuals, education-focused funding for non-school organisations and financial support for grassroots and impact community-led initiatives”.
MTLT general manager Andrew Croskery said the “buckets get pushed and pulled every year” regarding
where the grant money will go so it isn’t possible to accurately compare this year’s funding spread to previous years.
Last financial year, the MTLT budget was $1.518 million compared to just below $1.55 million this financial year.
“We had three years when we went through covid where we didn’t provide any community grants, but we’re back doing that now,” Croskery said.
