Masterton Tennis Centre [MTC] will join 155 other tennis clubs nationwide to celebrate New Zealand’s Love Tennis event on Sunday [September 10].
A free entry event run by Tennis NZ, Love Tennis aims to get the community involved in the sport, with all equipment and lessons provided at no cost on the day – no strings attached.
MTC club captain Sue McRae told the Times-Age she’s looking forward to seeing as many people as possible coming to MTC to have a go, including families, and the young and old.
Meanwhile, all those who attend Love Tennis will go into the draw to win a trip to the 2023 Australian Open in Melbourne, as well as the chance to get their hands on vouchers and Love Tennis spot prizes.
To end the day, a celebrity doubles match that pits parliamentary candidates Mike Butterick and Celia Wade-Brown against new Trust House chief executive John Prendergast and Masterton District Council deputy mayor Bex Johnson will commence at 2 pm.
Members of the public who attend will get the chance to guess the outcome of the doubles match – with the winner receiving a $50 restaurant voucher.
