Masterton Police have recovered $100,000 worth of stolen property, including a high-end racecar, after executing a search warrant at a residential property on Monday.
Wairarapa Tactical Crime Unit detective Corey Reid said the search followed an investigation into a series of burglaries in the area.
One person was arrested, and about $100,000 worth of property was recovered, including vehicles.
Reid said one of the recovered vehicles was a high-end race car, while other stolen items included farm supplies, electronics, and power tools.
He said the recovered property is from five separate burglaries and amounts to about three trailer loads of items.
Reid said a distinctive Holden Kingsland ute, which was believed to have been stolen at the same time as the racecar, is yet to be found.
“We would like some information about [the ute].”
A 45-year-old man has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and resisting police, and further charges are being considered.
Reid said the man was due to appear in Masterton District Court yesterday morning.
The arrest and recovery of the stolen property was the result of the establishment of a Tactical Crime Unit in the area, Reid said.
“We hope this provides reassurance to the community that we work hard to hold offenders to account.
“Anyone who has concerns about organised crime or illegal activity in their community is urged to contact police.”
Reid said reports can be made online at 105.police.govt.nz, by calling Police on 105, or reporting anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-nz.org.
