A patched gang member sought in relation to a quarter of a million dollar drug bust is in police custody.
Michael John Clark, described by police as a patched Headhunter, appeared in Masterton District Court yesterday, where he pleaded not guilty to possessing methamphetamine for supply.
He has elected a jury trial.
Wairarapa police recently appealed for information about the 30-year-old’s whereabouts “following the seizure of a significant quantity of methamphetamine in Carterton” last month.
“Clark is believed to be in possession of a firearm and should not be approached.”
Police confirmed yesterday that Clark had been apprehended and subsequently taken to court.
He is the second person facing drug charges after police seized 600 grams of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $230,000, from a gang-affiliated property in Carterton.
A 24-year-old woman arrested during the police operation has also been charged with possessing a class A drug for supply, which carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. She was remanded on bail and is due to reappear in court this month.
Clark entered no plea to a second charge of breaching bail yesterday. He was remanded in custody by consent and is due to reappear in court on April 27.
