Author launches her latest offering

Almo’s Books in Carterton played host to the launch of local author Angela Yeoman’s [pen-name A. Yeoman] latest novel last week.

A sizable crowd gathered to mark the first appearance of ‘Willow in Underwood’. Set in a world slightly removed from our own, ‘Willow in Underwood’ is a paranormal and dystopian novel that sets the tone for the Underwood Collection. This trilogy will follow “three fairly unlikely and very diverse women friends,” Yeoman said.

Introduced by Andrew Denholm, publisher of Wairarapa Times-Age, Yeoman took to the floor to introduce her book and the inspiration behind it before doing a short reading.

The book explores a world of the paranormal and a brave heroine trying to save the world as she knows it. There’s intrigue, evil dead people, and even some romance.

Once you break through the face value story, it’s about the main characters “discovering who they really are and being true to themselves,” Yeoman said.

Taking inspiration from the idea of a small group of friends banding together, having adventures, and then overcoming adversity.

“That’s what Willow in Underwood is really about,” Yeoman said.

With a half dozen novels written – and outlines or rough drafts for another half dozen – it’s easy to assume that we’ll see more of her works in the future.

Yeoman thanked Steve Laurence of Almo’s Books for hosting the launch and Denholm for his introductions.

  • The novel is available for purchase on Amazon, either as a paperback or an e-book.
