The woman arrested after a head-on crash in Featherston on Good Friday had previous driving convictions and was facing a raft of charges at the time of the crash.
The 23-year-old Wellington woman appeared in Hutt Valley District Court on Wednesday applying for bail on charges unrelated to the April 15 crash.
Police said the woman was driving a vehicle on Austin St in Mt Victoria two weeks earlier, on April 1, while disqualified from holding or obtaining a licence.
She was also charged with stealing a car.
The charging document said she “dishonestly and without claim of right but so as to be guilty of theft used for her own purpose a vehicle, namely a Ford Laser”.
Police said the stolen car was valued at $2500.
In court on Wednesday, the woman’s bail application was adjourned to allow police to carry out checks on the proposed bail address.
She was due to reappear in court on April 26.
The crash on April 15 on State Highway 53 left two people with significant injuries.
A woman in her 20s was flown to Wellington Hospital in a serious condition, while a man was taken to Wairarapa Hospital in a moderate condition.
The woman arrested in relation to the crash reportedly stole a car and fled the scene before the police apprehended her.
