Van ends up on the footpath

A loud crash was heard by Masterton shoppers yesterday afternoon when a van drove over a kerb, knocked over a bike rack and hit a sign. The crash happened at 1.10pm near the pedestrian crossing at the King St and Queen St intersection. Police said one person was in moderate condition. There were no road blockages.

Library book sale now on

Masterton District Library has opened its doors to the region’s book lovers for book sale week. Keen readers can fill a bag for only $5. The sale began yesterday and runs until Saturday, January 21.

Martinborough opportunity

Martinborough Community Board [MCB] is offering people a regular chance to share their ideas with them. Someone will be available every Saturday until the end of February between 10am and 12pm at the Waihinga Centre. People can also contact MCB through their Facebook page or by email at [email protected]. There will also be suggestion boxes around town over the coming weeks.

Pool closes early

The Eketahuna pools will be closing at 5pm today. It will continue to close early on all Wednesdays and Thursdays. Closing time on all other days will be 6pm.

Covid-19 update

There were three patients in Wairarapa Hospital with covid-19 yesterday, after two were admitted the previous day. This was after the region recorded its 47th death with the virus. There were 28 new cases of the virus recorded yesterday in Wairarapa.
