Be there or
be square
Today at 11am in Masterton’s Library Square – right next to the Masterton District Library – archivist Mark Pacey is giving a talk about the history of the space, including the building that used to be there and its demolition, along with the process of designing and naming the square, and how and why the Russian Jack statue became a fixture. This is part of Parks Week 2024, which runs until March 10 and is intended to highlight the vital role parks play in creating liveable spaces and thriving communities. From 11am to 1pm there’s also a BBQ being put on by Green by Nature at Queen Elizabeth Park’s Kid’s Own Playground, in acknowledgement of Parks Week.
