Police callouts
Police were called to a two-vehicle crash on High St, Solway, near South Belt yesterday at 11am. No injuries were reported to police, and the road was not blocked by the collision. Police also received a report of wilful damage to a property on High St Kuripuni at about 12.25pm yesterday and police are making enquiries. One person has been taken into custody after shoplifting from a commercial property on Chapel St between Renall and Russell streets in Masterton.

Masterton District Council [MDC] is offering new residents of Masterton an opportunity to attend a workshop at GROW community gardens to learn about how to grow vegetables in a portable raised garden. “You will be able to meet other gardeners new to Masterton,” an MDC statement said. “You can look around the GROW community gardens for inspiration and learn about the services offered by Wairarapa Community Centre Trust.” The event is on Saturday, April 6, from 9.30am to 11.30am. There’s still time to enter the annual Apprentice Challenge run by NZ Certified Builders [NZCB], with entries closing on Friday, March 25. A regional heat is taking place in Masterton on April 6. A week before this, competitors will be advised of the project they have to build, and they’ll have eight hours to complete it on the day. All apprentices who enter will receive a prize pack and place-getters will get additional prizes, while the winner will go on to represent Wairarapa at the national final in Wellington in June. Meet the mayor
Tararua District Council [TDC] is providing an opportunity to meet with the mayor, Tracey Collis, in Woodville. “This is your chance to have a chat and ask questions or share any great ideas,” a TDC statement said. The visit is being held at the Woodville information centre at 45 Vogel St between 3pm and 5pm on Monday.
