Hill works
State Highway 2 Remutaka Hill night closures continue this week and into next week with drivers being urged to book escorted crossings as soon as possible. Road crews will continue carrying out maintenance and installing new safety improvements this week until March 15 before starting up again on Sunday through to Thursday night next week [March 17 to 22]. The closures will run from 9pm to 4am. Bookings for escorted crossings next week must be done by 4pm Friday, March 15 on the NZTA online booking form. Anybody wishing to travel between Wellington and Wairarapa would need to factor this into their travel plans because the only detour available would be via Saddle Rd and the Pahiatua Track, which is likely to have significantly longer travel times.
