disruptions
SH2 will be closed at Waingawa at Cornwall Rd to Hughes Line nightly from 8pm to 6am until Thursday. The closure is to allow for chip sealing to be completed, and detours have been signposted. SH2 Carterton near Park Rd is undergoing footpath improvements until Thursday between 7pm and 5.30am; stop-go signals are in place.
Planned
power outages
Powerco is shutting down the power for Solway Cres today. It is expected that 36 properties will be affected by the planned outage which will be taking place from 8.30am to 3.30pm. Weather ahead
MetService said that yesterday’s cloud will clear today and become fine later this evening. The weather tomorrow is looking mainly fine, with a chance of showers in the Tararua District in the afternoon and northerlies easing in the morning. On Thursday, the rain returns, with MetService predicting showers in the afternoon along with north easterlies. The rain will lighten on Friday and become isolated with longer fine breaks in between.
SH2 Crashes
Police responded to multiple crashes on State Highway 2 on Saturday. A two-vehicle crash on SH2 between Hughes Line and Wiltons Rd was reported to police at 12.11pm and the road was blocked for a short period of time; no injuries were reported. The second crash happened at 12.36pm involving two vehicles near Paierau Rd where the road was not blocked and no injuries reported.
Police callouts
Police received a report on Sunday at 2.44am of a tree that had fallen down and was blocking both lanes on Masterton Castlepoint Rd between Maungahina Rd and Letts Rd. Council contractors were called and resolved the issue. Multiple reports of a group of people acting suspiciously prompted a police callout to Johnston St at 10pm Saturday night. Police made enquiries but did not find anybody, and there was no damage found to any property.
