Free RATs
Health Minister Shane Reti has confirmed that a purchase of 9.25 million covid-19 rapid antigen tests [RATs] will ensure that New Zealanders have free access to RATs until September 30 [in January, the government announced free access to the tests would continue until the end of this month]. Catchment group meeting
The Tinui Whareama Catchment Group will meet next Tuesday from 6pm at the Tinui Pub. Regional Council reps at the meeting will provide an update to address projects both planned and underway.
Equestrian meet
Equestrian Sports New Zealand members and parents of members have a meeting scheduled at Wingate Lane on SH1, Ōpaki, from 6.30pm on Wednesday, June 19. The Wairarapa Area Jumping Group AGM will run from 7.30pm followed by a discussion about the remits being put forward for the ESNZ Jumping AGM.
Police callouts
Police responded to reports of a person “driving poorly” on SH2 in Masterton at around 12.20am yesterday. The driver was later stopped on High St in Masterton and spoken to. Police responded to a report of a vehicle that had broken down on Vivian St in Masterton at around 8.30am yesterday but the road wasn’t blocked and hazard lights were on. Police also responded to reports of an assault on High St in Masterton at around 5.30pm yesterday. Police spoke to those involved, and one person was trespassed from the property.

Morning quake
A 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit the north island at 2.19am yesterday. It was at a depth of 168km and centred 10km west of Rotorua. GeoNet said that over two thousand people reported feeling the quake; predominantly in the lower North Island.
