Road closure

SH53 in Martinborough near Memorial Square is closed today for the Martinborough Fair from 5am to 6.30pm. A detour via local roads will be signposted.

Emergency
roadworks

Masterton District Council contractor Higgins will be undertaking emergency roadworks on Langdale Rd next week, from 7-11 February. Vehicle access will be restricted. There will be manned road closures on the Masterton-Castlepoint end and the Whareama end of Langdale Rd, and at the intersection on Post Office Rd. For residential access or other queries, it is advised to approach the traffic management staff onsite. Access will be made available in an emergency.

Weather watch

Today is looking cloudy, with occasional showers. MetService said these might turn to squally thunderstorms for a period but will clear to fine late in the day. Strong northwesterlies are lingering and will turn southerly this evening. Tomorrow looks clearer, with fresh northwesterlies developing in the morning.

SH2 updates

NZTA Waka Kotahi is completing barrier installation on SH2 between Kiriwhakapapa and Mt Bruce, where there will be stop-go signals in place on Monday from 7am-12pm and from Wednesday to Friday, 7am-4.30pm. SH2 between Tauwharenīkau and Greytown will have stop-go signals on Tuesday night 10pm-5.30am and an altered lane layout from Wednesday to Friday for resealing work to take place. SH2 north of Carterton near Andersons Line will have altered lane layouts during the day from Wednesday to Friday, 7.30am to 5pm, for waterworks. SH2 in Clareville near Somerset Rd will have stop-go traffic controls in place on Wednesday and Thursday nights, 7pm-6am, for line marking. SH2 south Masterton near Ngaumutawa Rd will also have stop-go signals in place during that time for line marking. SH2 in Waingawa from Cornwall St to Hughes Line will be closed for chipsealing on Wednesday night, 8pm to 6am.

Police call

Police were called to a dispute between neighbours on Thursday night shortly after 8pm. The argument on Masterton’s McGregor Cres resulted in one person receiving minor injuries.
