LTP numbers
Masterton District Council [MDC] has received more than 150 submissions on the proposed Long-Term Plan [LTP], halfway through the consultation period. The LTP sets out plans for the future of the town hall and library buildings, as well as town centre improvements, to be funded over the next 10 years. MDC said the plan is a key driver for determining rates. MDC strategic planning manager Tania Madden said the response so far had been encouraging. She said MDC had around 350 submissions on the last LTP and is keen to surpass that. Submissions can be made on MDC’s website or using hard-copy submission forms available at Masterton District Library or the MDC’s customer service centre, both on Queen St. A phone submission can be made on 06 370 600 between 8am to 5pm on weekdays except Tuesday, when hours are 9am-5pm. Submissions close at 10am on Monday, May 6.
Anzac Day

In Masterton, from 5.30am, service personnel and service groups will assemble outside the Masterton War Memorial stadium/ Trust House Recreation Centre on Dixon St. At 5.45am the parade will march along Dixon St to the Cenotaph where the service will commence at 5.55am. The Tinui march will begin at 10.20am at the War Memorial Hall followed by the service at 10:30am. Other Anzac day locations include Gladstone from 5.30am, Martinborough and Featherston from 5.45am, Lake Ferry from 10.15am, Greytown from 10.30am, Carterton 10:45am and Kaiparoro 2pm.
Stormwater
upgrade
SWDC will continue to upgrade the stormwater systems by removing and replacing the old pipes during late April and early May. The works are expected to be completed by Friday, May 3, and will result in detours around the Featherston SH 2, Wakefield Street/Bethune Street and Birdwood Street/Lyon Street area. Part of the road will be closed, and traffic detoured, during the April 28-May 2 night works from 9pm to 5.30am. Day works will operate from April 29-May 3, between 9am and 5:30pm. The shoulder will be closed, meaning car parks directly outside Fresh Choice will be closed at these times.
