Pop-up session
A drop-in session for the proposed Wairarapa combined district plan [WCDP] is being held today at the Masterton District Library. The drop-in session will run from 2pm-5pm and is an opportunity for residents to chat with members of the WCDP planning team. The proposed plan is available at www.wairarapaplan.co.nz, which contains information on the review and summaries of key topics. You can also view the proposed plan at local libraries and council offices along with hard copy brochures and submission forms. Masterton District Council [MDC] has advised there will be further drop-ins held in the coming weeks.
Lake feedback
Consultation on the proposed Henley Lake active space closes on Friday, October 20 at 4pm. MDC says you can still have your say by heading to the MDC website at mstn.govt.nz and searching ‘consultations’.
Frightful fun
Masterton District Council has announced Halloween Island is returning to Queen Elizabeth Park on Tuesday, October 31 this year. It will include a high-scare zombie zone, low-scare Halloween zone, roaming Halloween characters, and spot prizes for best outfits. It will be open from 4-7pm, while from 4.30-6.30pm the nearby Coronation Hall will be transformed into a house that’s haunted by spooky characters from Wairarapa College’s drama department. There will also be a range of food trucks by the Kids Own playground for when attendees have scared up an appetite.
Op shop sale
The Featherston Op Shop is having a sale this weekend to fundraise for the Featherston Foodbank. Everything in store will be half-price, including clothes, books and electronics. Hours are Friday and Saturday 10am to 4pm and Sunday and Monday from 10am to 2pm.
Alcohol-free
Masterton District Council is reminding people that an alcohol-free zone is in place at Riversdale and Castlepoint this Labour weekend. Drinking and/or possession of alcohol is prohibited in public areas between 7pm and 7am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
