Masterton RVs
delayed a month
Masterton District Council [MDC] has confirmed there will be a delay in the release of updated Masterton rating valuations [RVs]. MDC said the new RVs, initially due next month, are now expected in late January. A statement from MDC said Quotable Value New Zealand [QVNZ] has delayed the release of the new RVs following the audit process carried out by the Office of the Valuer General [OVG]. All New Zealand RVs are reviewed and audited by the OVG before being notified to property owners and the public. RV reassessments are used by the council to apportion rates among the district’s 13,500 ratepayers. The valuations reflect a snapshot of market values on September 1, 2023, based on recent property sales. This year, the OVG said that, due to a low number of sales for some property types in the rural area, QVNZ should look outside the Masterton district for more market evidence, including the wider Wairarapa and Tararua districts. Collating the extra information has caused the delay.

Carterton District Council’s festival fund applications are also closing this Friday, November 24 at 2pm.
