Masterton roadworks
NZTA has advised that the work on Chapel St/SH2 in Masterton that was due to begin last Sunday but was delayed due to wet weather will now begin tomorrow [April 28]. The first section of road to be reconstructed is between Jackson St and the Lincoln Rd roundabout, with the second section between Michael St and Russell St starting around 9 May. Work is currently planned to be at night only, but day work might be added. Work is expected to continue until the end of May, and there could be access and noise impacts on some residents and businesses. “However, this section of State Highway 2 is in poor condition and has reached the end of its life,” a spokesperson said. The work is weather-dependent, and schedules could change.
Stormwater work extended
Work on the Featherston stormwater project has been extended and is now expected to finish around May 3. Between Sunday, 14 April and Thursday, 2 May, from 9pm to 5.30am, SH2 Fitzherbert St [between Wakefield and Lyon St] will be closed at night. NZTA advise vehicles will be required to detour. Between 9pm and 5.30am, traffic will be unable to access Daniell St from Fitzherbert St as the intersections will be closed on either side of the road. Access will be available via Revans or Fox streets.
