Solar farm submissions
Submissions on the Far North Solar Farms resource consent application close tomorrow at 4pm. The application to establish and operate a 175-megawatt solar farm includes more than 300,000 solar panels on tracking tables, with a maximum height of 4.5 metres above the ground, 40 inverters, lines and associated structures, buildings exceeding 25m2, associated site works and accessways, and screening planting. The application includes an assessment of environmental effects. Hard copies can be inspected at Greytown Library and the council offices in Martinborough. Store theft
Police are making inquiries after reports of a late-night theft in Featherston. Police confirmed officers responded to a shoplifting incident at 11.20pm on Friday at a store on the corner of Revans and Fiztherbert streets. Police did not confirm whether anyone was in custody as a result.
Rubbish collection
Rubbish collection will be a day later this week due to today’s public holiday. In Masterton and Carterton that means urban kerbside rubbish and recycling will take place tomorrow. In South Wairarapa collections in Greytown, Martinborough, and Featherston, will be shifted a day later –Wednesday to Friday. Collection in coastal communities will occur today as usual.
NZTA roadworks
Motorists can expect traffic control on SH2 in Carterton between Hilton Rd and Andersons Line from tonight, with roadworks taking place between 7pm and 5.30am through to Wednesday. Works on SH2 between Featherston and Greytown also begin today for LED lighting upgrades. Traffic control will be in place tomorrow until Thursday, between 7pm and 5.30pm. Daytime upgrades this week include SH2 in Tauherenikau near the No 1 Line. The works begin tomorrow and are expected to take place from 9am to 4pm, with traffic control in place. SH2 south of Carterton, near Waihakeke Rd will have traffic control on Wednesday due to roadside levelling works.
