Heavy rain watch

Metservice has issued a heavy rain watch for the Tararua Range from 9pm tonight until 1pm tomorrow. Periods of heavy rain can be expected in the range, and rainfall amounts could reach “warning criteria”. The heavy rain could cause river levels to rise rapidly. A front, preceded by a moist northwest flow, is expected to weaken and stall over the central North Island tomorrow. Despite the rain, Sunday’s temperatures are set to reach 22 degrees Celsius and fall as low as 9 degrees Celsius in Masterton, with the northwesterly wind easing in the morning.
