Missing person
Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen 77-year-old Joan MacGregor of Masterton. MacGregor was last seen at her residential address on Roberts Rd, Lansdowne at about 1pm yesterday. She may be wearing a green jacket and black track pants, and it is believed she has two suitcases with her. Both police and MacGregor’s family have concerns for her welfare. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 105, referencing event number P055345782.
ACT candidate
Yesterday evening, the ACT Party released its candidate list for the 2023 General Election. The candidate listed for Wairarapa is Simon Casey, who sits at number 44 on the list. Casey has an engineering and entrepreneurial background and is a member of Business Wairarapa, the Property Investors Association and is currently the president and instructor of the Wellington Wairarapa Gliding Club. He is the lead coordinator for ACT in Wairarapa.
Calmer weather this week
After a rather gusty weekend, where westerly winds approached gales in parts of the region, the weather looks to be settling down this week, according to Metservice. Today is looking mostly fine, apart from a few coastal showers clearing in the early morning and some wind still lingering in the form of westerlies in the Tararua District. The rest of the week is fine, with a few cloudy patches and isolated showers developing on Thursday.
