Fire calls

Masterton Fire Brigade responded to two calls yesterday. The first was at 7.50am on Akura Rd, after someone reported seeing smoke. On arrival, the crew discovered it was a contained rubbish fire and a spokesperson said they left it supervised by the party who had started it. The second call inspired an appliance to flare its lights and sound the sirens to get to Solway to attend to a leaking gas cylinder and check the property involved with a gas detector [another truck was stood down].
