Arrest after failure to stop
One woman was arrested after failing to stop for police at about 11pm on Wednesday night. A Police spokesperson confirmed that the woman failed to stop after officers attempted to pull her over for excessive speed. After a short pursuit, the woman stopped and proceeded to assault a police officer. The woman was arrested shortly after midnight and is now remanded in custody.
Council places alcohol bans
Masterton District Council has placed an alcohol ban from 6pm December 30 to 6am January 1 in both Riversdale and Castlepoint.
The alcohol ban includes the consumption or possession of alcohol in the following areas:
Riversdale
Orui Station and Riversdale Rd intersection and along Riversdale Rd to the township, Bodle Dr to the lagoon and inclusive of Riversdale Beach from the lagoon to the Southern Riversdale Reserve to the water’s edge, from Blue Pacific Pde and Bodle Dr intersection along Blue Pacific Pde to the Southern Riversdale Reserve, from Riversdale Rd and Pinedale Cres intersection along Pinedale Cres to the intersection with Blue Pacific Pde, and the southern terrace off Palm Pde and the middle terrace off Pinedale Cres being Rochdale Rd, Otaraia Rd, Bull Ln, Tama Rd, Pukeko Pl, and Knoyle Rd.
Castlepoint
The alcohol ban is in place from the Castlepoint motorcamp to the Castlepoint lagoon, including Jetty Rd and Castlepoint Beach to the water’s edge, from the front of the motorcamp to the Castlepoint Lagoon, including Castlepoint Reserve, and Guthrie and Balfour Crescents and all public roads and places to which the public have access within the township of Castlepoint.
