WFA travels
to the storm
Nine Wellington Free Ambulance [WFA] staff and four rescue vehicles have travelled north into the eye of the storm to support their Hato Hone St John colleagues.
The staff deployed over the weekend to Tairawhiti [Gisborne] and the Coromandel in anticipation of Cyclone Gabrielle’s landfall.
“The crews are highly skilled frontline paramedics with rescue training capability and will remain in place as the community braces for the impact of Cyclone Gabrielle in the coming days. Working outside of our usual region to support our colleagues and community is just one of the ways that the first response community comes together when people are in need.”
