Important storm recovery roadworks will be taking place this Saturday, September 2 on Te Ore Ore-Bideford Rd and Masterton Castlepoint Rd. Traffic flow will be managed by either traffic lights or manual traffic controllers. Allow extra time for travel and plan accordingly.
Remutaka
closures
Waka Kotahi has planned overnight closures for the Remutaka Hill in September, to carry out urgent works and maintenance. The road will close to stabilise an area where the roadside above a gully has slumped and an extended period of night closures is needed for urgent work and maintenance. The hill will close for 10 nights in total, starting on 9pm this Sunday to 4am Monday morning. The road will close for the same overnight hours all week, through to 4am Friday, September 8. It will also be closed Sunday, September 10 from 9pm-4am, and for the same overnight hours in the following week until 4am, Friday September 15. Light vehicles can be escorted at intervals across the hill behind a pilot vehicle. Bookings for this are essential and should be made in advance. For Sunday, book by 4pm the Friday before. Cultural festival
To mark Welcoming Week 2023, Masterton District Council is hosting a Masterton Cultural Festival on Saturday, September 9 from 10am-2pm. All are welcome to enjoy cultural performances, music, food, and fun. The festival will be held on Park St, between Dixon and Queen St – the road will be closed to vehicles. Masterton police received a report of a person acting suspiciously on a property on George St, Masterton at 10.45pm on Monday. A spokesperson for police said staff responded to the scene and confirmed that there were no issues.

Police received reports of dangerous driving on Hinau Gully Rd, Carterton at 10pm on Monday. A spokesperson said police were unable to locate the vehicle described to them.
