Search
continues

It has been more than a week since Michael MacGregor was last seen. He was at the Rocky Lookout in Mt Holdsworth on July 31, at 12.20pm. Police said yesterday that they could not comment on the details of the search and rescue operation. The officer in charge of the search said police would release any new details or an update regarding the search for Macgregor just as soon as any become available. Meanwhile, a fundraiser has been started to support the search and rescue operation. The family of MacGregor have asked for food for the searching volunteers, such as snap lock bags, nuts, chips, apples, toilet rolls, coleslaw, ham, cheese and biscuits. Supplies for volunteers can be dropped at 18 Kippenberger St in east Masterton or Mt Holdsworth. Donations can also be made to bank account

Environment awards

Greater Wellington Regional Council’s Balance Farm Environment Awards 2023 are now open for applications. Farmers or growers in the region are eligible to apply. Last year, Patrizia and Rod Clutton of Rewa Rewa Station in Masterton won the Regional Supreme Award. The station runs 4300 Romney sheep, 140 Angus cattle, cashmere goats and alpaca and the award acknowledged the bi-annual soil testing and careful fertiliser management to create good soil balance leading to improved pasture, better animal health and higher profits. Entries close on October 31, 2023. To look at the range of award categories and how to apply, go to https://nzfeawards.org.nz/regions/greater-wellington/
