SH2 road closures

There are a series of road closures and roadworks planned on SH2 in the Masterton District over the upcoming week: Monday, October 2 and Tuesday, October 3 from 7am-4pm, north of Opaki, near Loopline Rd; Monday, October 2 to Friday October 6 from 7am-5pm, Mount Bruce near Ruamahanga Gorge Rd; on Wednesday, October 4 from 8pm to 3am, the road will be closed at High St near the Chapel St roundabout; on Friday, October 6 from 9am-4pm, stop/hold traffic control will be in place for tree trimming south of Ōpaki, near Willow Park Dr.

Police roundup

At 6.43pm on Saturday, police responded to a report of a woman who had previously been trespassed from a bar drinking outside the bar on Queen St in Kuripuni. Police moved the woman on without any issues. At 7.27pm on Saturday, police responded to a report of a man who appeared intoxicated while walking down Harley St, at one point stumbling into the road, but after a search of the area, they were not able to locate him. At 8.41pm on Saturday, police investigated a disorder report regarding “youths possibly throwing something at a building”. Police checked the area and did not locate the youths. They also checked the building and didn’t locate any damage. At 9pm on Saturday, police received a report from a man who said he and his friends had been threatened by another group of men on Dixon St. There were no reports of any kind of assault or injuries, and the other group of men were not located. At just past 10am yesterday, police responded to a report of man on Lincoln Rd “yelling and throwing his gumboots around”. The police attending spoke to the man involved. There was no property damage or injuries reported.

Today will feature cloudy periods, with scattered rain in the afternoon and the evening, as well as strong northwesterlies that could gust of up to 120 kmh in exposed places before easing tonight and turning southwesterly. Tomorrow is likely to be mostly cloudy with isolated showers, clearing to fine in the afternoon, while strong southwesterlies earlier in the day will ease in the afternoon.
