WFA receives Times-Age donation

Representatives from Wellington Free Ambulance [WFA] were presented with a $7000 donation by Wairarapa Times-Age’s advertising team yesterday.

The donation represented a percentage of the proceeds from advertising published in the Times-Age during July.

Publisher Andrew Denholm said it’s a privilege to be able to give back to a charitable organisation that does so much for the community.

The Times-Ages donation will go towards funding WFA’s new ambulance station on Russell and Queen St, Masterton.

WFA Wairarapa community liaison Cheryl Watson said it’s full steam ahead for the station, with preparation and background work currently underway in readiness for the build.

But although WFA has already raised half its funds for the $7 million project, Watson said there is still a way to go.

As such, the community is encouraged to give generously to the WFA collectors who will be out and about in the region on September 8 and 9.

WFA will also be running a ‘Onesie Appeal’ from September 4–10 – a fundraiser the whole community can participate in to support the ambulance service for Greater Wellington and Wairarapa.

“Anything that is raised in Wairarapa stays in Wairarapa,” Watson said.

“We’re very grateful for the number of organisations, businesses, and community groups that are getting behind it.”
