Hit and run

A white sedan fled the scene after crashing into another vehicle at the roundabout at Ngaumutawa Rd and Renall St. Police were alerted to the crash shortly before 9pm on Saturday. There were no reported injuries, but the crashed-into vehicle was damaged on the passenger side and needed to be towed. Police were unable to find the white sedan, which the other driver said suffered damage to the front. Anybody with any information on the incident should call 105 and cite event number P054323637.

Off-roading

A car had to be towed after veering off Masterton-Castlepoint Rd on Saturday. Emergency service responded at 2:55pm Saturday to the single-vehicle crash between Blairlogie-Langdale Rd and Adams Peak Rd. Two people suffered minor injuries.

Road works

Stop-go traffic control will be in place tomorrow night on SH2 Featherston near Moore St. Waka Kotahi will be conducting road repairs from 7pm until 5:30am. SH2 Masterton, near Oxford St will have daytime traffic control from 7am until 6pm today and tomorrow as Waka Kotahi install signs.

Footbridge replacement

A footbridge running between Kaka St and Kereru Pl in Masterton will be replaced, with work starting today. Masterton District Council’s roading services manager Kaine Jaquiery said the existing footbridge was due for renewal to remain safe for its users. The work is expected to take around four weeks to complete, weather dependent.
