Kuranui College came together to recognise many outstanding achievements from their school leavers.
Students, prize winners, staff, and family attended the end-of-year ceremony.
Head Boy Joshua Wiegman was named the 2022 Kuranui College Dux Litterarum and the Tocker Cup for outstanding leadership and the most significant contribution to college life.
Charlie O’Connell was Proxime Accessit, and, alongside fellow student Will Isaacs, won the Minolta Cup for significant contributions to college life.
Tegan Lindsay, Leah Hume, and Amethyst Sutherland won Te Hiringa Trophies, awarded for consistently displaying the Kurnaui school value of Te Hiringa [perserverance] when pursuing their studies.
Michael Fletcher won the Greytown Lion and Lioness Clubs Endeavour Trophy for striving and succeeding against the odds.
Matthew Edwards won the South Wairarapa Rotary Club Shackleton Cup, recognising resilience, growth, and success in secondary schooling.
Nilah Savage was first in year 12, Isla Hamilton was first in year 11, Alexander Wos was first in year 10, and Maria Gale was first in year 9.
Principal Simon Fuller said it had been a complex year with the covid-19 outbreak in term one, but that the results had exceeded all expectations.
“I’m proud of our staff and students who banded together to succeed ina time of crisis.
“Winning the regional showquest has been a highlight, but I was also impressed with our prefect team who did an awesome job of bringing people together, and of individual students succeeding and realising their dreams.
“That’s why you get in the job really,” Fuller said.
